About the client
The Premium Basket is a gourmet and specialty food retailer selling curated hampers, imported pantry staples and gifting assortments through its direct to consumer online store. The brand serves urban households looking for premium everyday groceries, along with corporate buyers who order gift baskets for clients, partners and employees during festive and celebratory occasions. Its catalogue spans multiple categories with frequent seasonal additions, and much of its demand is concentrated around festival periods and gifting calendars.
The challenge
The Premium Basket was running its online store on WooCommerce, and the platform had become difficult to maintain as the catalogue and order volume grew. Routine tasks such as adding products, updating pricing and managing plugin compatibility required developer involvement, which slowed the team down and added cost to everyday merchandising decisions. The storefront design also lagged behind the positioning of the brand, with a browsing and checkout experience that did not reflect the premium nature of the products or hold shoppers through to purchase. For a business that depends on repeat online orders, an ageing platform and an underperforming storefront were a direct constraint on revenue and on the ability to run campaigns at pace.
The solution
Baclinc began with an audit of The Premium Basket's existing WooCommerce store, cataloguing products, variants, customer records, order history and the plugin functions the business relied on day to day. That audit informed a data mapping exercise so product attributes, collections and customer accounts transferred into Shopify's structure without manual rebuilding, with native Shopify features and vetted apps replacing plugin dependencies that would otherwise need ongoing maintenance. Shopify was chosen because it removes hosting, security patching and plugin compatibility work from the client's plate, letting the team focus on merchandising rather than platform upkeep. Alongside the migration, Baclinc designed a new storefront around how customers actually shop a premium grocery range, with clearer category navigation, product page layouts built for ingredient and sourcing detail, and a checkout flow configured for the brand's payment and shipping requirements. Before cutover, the store was assembled and tested on a staging environment, and a redirect map was prepared so existing product and category URLs continued to resolve after launch.
